Enable is working with Nottinghamshire YMCA and Mansfield CVS to deliver the Work Programme in Ashfield, Bassetlaw and Nottingham City.
Although in its early stages, the programme is already making a difference and is helping people into employment.
Jason Maxfield had been unemployed since September 2010 after he was dismissed from his last employer. He had been trying to get a job without success. He felt employers were reluctant to offer him a job, because he'd been dismissed by his previous employer. Despite having a lot of interviews, Jason was still unable to find a job.
Jason joined Enable's Work Programme and was supported by employment advisor, Raveena Lal. Raveena supported Jason by giving him one-to-one support with job searches and helping him update his CV. She also worked with him to improve his interview techniques by practising a mock interview. Jason found that attending job-clubs and being around other jobseekers boosted his confidence in addition to the support Raveena provided with confidence building. Raveena also arranged for Jason to do some voluntary work to gain confidence and work experience.
With the support he received, Jason was able to secure a full-time post with a catering company and began work in January. Jason said "I'm very pleased to finally be back at work. I feel that my life will improve now as a consequence of having a job."
