East Midlands ESF Community Learning and Skills Grants Successful Application - Round One

In total 16 projects were supported and grants to the total value of £95,604 awarded. Project activity will begin in September and October 2011, all projects will be completed by early April 2012.

Leicestershire

Wesley Hall Mamas - "Spinney Hill New Mothers Community Breastfeeding Support Project"

This project will promote volunteering, it will deliver in the Spinney Hills area of Leicester City and will target minority ethnic women who are new to the UK and have never been employed here.  Anticipated participant numbers are 10.

Pedestrian Arts - "Employability & Enterprise in Creative Industries"

This project will seek to encourage enterprise and self-employment; it will deliver in the Braunstone area of Leicester City and will target unemployed/economically inactive female lone parents.  Anticipated participant numbers are 12.

Youth Shelter - "Lifewise"

This project will provide "bite-size" modular accredited training for homeless and vulnerably housed unemployed/economically young people in the Hastings ward, Loughborough.  Anticipated participant numbers are 20.

Nottinghamshire

Nottingham Photographer's Hub CIC - "Photovoice"

This project will provide accredited photography training and confidence building activity and will recruit unemployed/economically participants with mental health issues from the Bulwell area of Nottingham City.  Anticipated participant numbers are 10.

Belong - "Volunteering for Work Project"

The project will promote volunteering to people from ethnic minority groups and will recruit unemployed/economically participants from the Aspley and Broxtowe estates in Nottingham City. Anticipated participant numbers are 20.

The Meadows Partnership Trust - "Wednesday Work Club"

The project will provide a supported work club for unemployed residents of the Meadows area in Nottingham City.  Anticipated participant numbers are 250.

Nottingham Equal - "Nottingham Equal ICT"

This project will provide a work related IT qualification to 5 unemployed people from ethnic minority groups, and will recruit participants from the Sneinton area of Nottingham City.

Northamptonshire

Accommodation Concern - "Silver Lining"

This project will provide a supported work club and job search skills training for unemployed/economically homeless and vulnerably housed people in the Avondale Grange ward in Kettering. Anticipated participant numbers are 20.

Teamwork Trust - "Opportunities for Employability"

This project will promote volunteering and provide soft skills training for vulnerable unemployed/economically inactive people from the Kingswood and Exeter wards in Corby. Anticipated participant numbers are 8.

Action Support (UK) Ltd - "Action Supports You to Work"

This project will provide pre-employment training and supported work experience for unemployed/economically inactive people with mental health issues or substance abuse issues in the Spencer and Castle wards of Northampton. Anticipated participant numbers are 8.

Lincolnshire

CG Partnership (Gainsborough) - "Gainsborough Get into Work Club"

This project will provide a facilitated work club linked to the provision of accredited learning for unemployed people within Gainsborough.  Anticipated participant numbers are 12.

CG Partnership (Mablethorpe) - "Mablethorpe Get into Work Club"

This project will provide a facilitated work club linked to the provision of accredited learning for unemployed people within Mablethorpe.  Anticipated participant numbers are 12.

Gainsborough Traveller Initiative - "Enterprising Ways to Get into Work"

This project will provide support and accredited training to both unemployed and economically inactive people from the traveller community and the local community at the Park Springs Community Centre in Gainsborough (helping to promote the integration of the traveller community). Anticipated participant numbers are 10.

Derbyshire

Upbeat Communities - "SEW 2 Work Enterprise Club"

This project will provide a supported enterprise club for unemployed/ economically inactive women from new ethnic minority communities in the Normanton ward for Derby City. Anticipated participant numbers are 16.

Loundsley Green Community Trust - "Enterprise, Education, Coaching and Mentoring Project"

This project will provide a supported enterprise club for unemployed residents of the Loundsley Green ward in Chesterfield. Anticipated participant numbers are 12.

Splash Fit - "Skills Leadership"

This project will provide accredited sports leadership training and supported volunteer placements to unemployed people from the Derwent ward in Derby City.  Anticipated participant numbers are 12.
