What is Workforce Development?

Workforce development focuses on the recruitment, training & development and retention of the Boards, staff and volunteers needed to support organisations to reach their objectives.

Training and development can take many forms; e.g. from advice and developmental support from Managers and colleagues, coaching, and attending events to undertaking more formal qualification based training routes and participating in Continued Professional Development (CPD) routes in specialist areas.

Apprenticeships - The proven way to train your workforce

This project is led by the East Midlands Learning and Skills Partnership which is a made up of the Sub-Regional Voluntary and Community Sector Learning and Skills Consortia operating in the East Midlands. These are: Derbyshire Learning & Development Consortium; VOCOLLS, Leicestershire; enable, Nottinghamshire; Lincolnshire and Rutland Learning and Skills Consortium, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire Skills and Learning Consortium. Each organisation is responsible for driving forward a Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) Workforce Development Strategy in their county and has a track record of managing and delivering workforce development activities to meet VCS organisational needs.
